bullet 01 USAGE
Silicone Gels have been used to protect, insulate and modify appearance in electronics and as shock absorbers in shoes. Design concepts include: sports equipment (padding), furniture (seats), and audio (sound dampening).
bullet 02 AESTHETIC PROPERTIES
O ptically clear to opaque and easily pigmented, Silicone Gels can vary from soft and tacky to toughened / hard with low tack.
bullet 03 MATERIAL PERFORMANCE
Silicone Gels offer excellent wetting and adhesion to a variety of substrates. They provide physical and electrical stability over wider temperatures than organics (-45 to 200°C) and minimal shrinkage. Some gels are also solvent resistant, flame retardant (UL 94V), thermally conductive and self-healing.
bullet 04 PROCESSING
Silicone Gels are one or two part products that can be mixed (1:1) and dispensed manuallly or automatically using standard equipment. Cure times can be controlled by selecting products with different cure conditions (room temperature, moisture, heat accelerated, UV). They can be easily dispensed and reworked.
bullet 05 SUSTAINABILITY
Silicone Gels have low toxicity vs. organics, can be solventless, and generally have no solvent or cure by-products. Room temperature cure and adhesion also reduce energy consumption (no heat needed).
bullet 06 COST
Silicone Gels are cost competitive versus organic gels in applications requiring long life and stability.
